BOARD SELECTS NEW MINISTER

The UUCR Board is pleased to announce the selection of Rev. Sue Browning as our next minister. Sue has been serving the Easton UU congregation for the past four years as half-time minister, and she is excited to expand her Eastern Shore ministry to now include Chester River. This opportunity gives us not only a minister, but holds the potential for exploring creative partnering with Easton’s congregation as well.

Sue came into UU ministry as she retired from her administrative career with Verizon, having served primarily in their government accounts division. As young parents, she and her husband found Unitarian Universalism when looking for a faith home in which to raise their children. Her long history of involvement in the lay leadership and religious education at Arlington UU prepared her for taking this new direction in her life. She and her husband continue to live in Arlington, but spend increasing time enjoying their cottage retreat on the Miles River in St. Michaels.

Sue brings to UUCR a balanced blend of visionary and pragmatist. She is direct and forthright, yet wonderfully warm and open. Relationship-building is a particular strength of hers, and her pastoral presence is undeniable. Because of her ministry at Easton, Sue is very much aware of what life on the Eastern Shore is like. She understands the rural culture, the socioeconomic divisions, the pressures on the natural resources, and the historic racial/ethnic tensions. Sue loves the challenge of being out in the community, not only representing her congregation in the greater public, but actively seeking out where the networking and service potentials can be.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Easton has many of Sue’s sermons on their website, which can be accessed at: www.uufeaston.org
