Discussion of Extreme Risk Protective Order The Extreme Risk Protective Order is a tool that uses due process and is modeled after the successful Domestic Violence Restraining Order (DVRO) mechanism, to get guns away from individuals in crisis, who are dangerous but may not meet the criteria for involuntary hospitalization.
