Dr. Michael Harvey is the John Toll Professor of Leadership Studies in the Warehime Business School at Washington College, where he has taught since 1998. He is the author of Questioning Leadership: A Framework for Growth and Purpose (Cambridge University Press, 2024), and the editor of (and contributor to) Dead Precedents: Donald Trump in Historical Perspective (Routledge/Taylor & Francis, 2022). He is the author of The Nuts and Bolts of College Writing, first published in 2003 by Hackett and now in its third edition. He served on the Kent County Board of Education from 2009 to 2015. This talk, “The Leader’s First Question,” is a broad exploration of leadership from the distant past to the present — across cultures, traditions, and situations.
