About a million immigrants become citizens of the United States every year. People come from all over the world with dreams of achieving a better life for themselves and their families. Their dreams for the future are often quite heart-felt, hard-won, and downright inspirational. Kate Turpin Manahan, originally from Centreville, MD, now lives in Maine where she interviews immigrants on the radio each week. She will share what she has learned through listening carefully to the life stories and enduring hopes of new Americans, and will encourage us to meet and listen closely to our own newcomers. Such conversations enrich all our lives.
