Depending on the number of participants and the will of the congregation, this discussion will take one of two forms:
- Stay as one group, and ask participants to give examples of their own personal experience with the topic and why, and how the book still impacts them.
- Divide into smaller groups to allow for more back and forth about the specific books and personal impacts.
In either scenario, questions might include:
- What makes a book something that will have a life-long impact? Does the genre matter?
- Was the book self-chosen or a gift? If a gift, does the recipient know if the giver was hoping to have such an impact?
- At what age was the book read? Do you reread it?
- Should religious texts be included in this discussion?
